An Arabian leopard has been spotted in the mountains located in the governorate of Dhofar in Oman, Oman Observer reported.
The Office for Conversation of Environment in Salalah confirmed the presence of the leopard sub-species native to the Arabian Peninsula.
The Arabian leopard, one of the smallest sub-species, has been designated since 1996 as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List.
Fewer than 200 Arabian leopards were estimated to be alive in 2006. The population is severely fragmented.
