Manama: Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sisi’s visit to Bahrain will consolidate strong relations between the two nations, His Majesty King Hamad said yesterday.
His Majesty paid tribute to the pivotal role Egypt plays in the region as he visited President Sisi at his residence at Shaikh Hamad Palace in Gudaibiya.
“Egypt will always remain as the cornerstone of the pan-Arab and regional security,” he said.
The King described its leverage as a source of strength to all Arabs.
The leaders stressed the importance of continued co-ordination and discussed other key regional and Arab issues.
President Sisi thanked the King for the warm welcome and hospitality, hailing his role in enhancing ties as well as Bahrain’s support for Egypt and its people.
The King then hosted a “private” luncheon in honour of the visiting Egyptian leader, who left Bahrain afterwards, wrapping up a two-day visit.
The Egyptian leader addressed a cable of thanks to His Majesty hailing his fruitful talks which focused on Arab, regional and international issues.
He commended deep-rooted historic relations, stressing his country’s keenness on further developing ties.
