Diving instructor ordered to pay blood money after employee drowns

Khor Fakkan – A diving instructor has been ordered to pay Dh200,000 in blood money to the family of his employee.

The employee had drowned at sea during a training session. The duo had gone sailing together, but farther out to sea than what their diving permit allowed.

The instructor returned without his employee and police filed a missing persons report. A rescue team was unable to retrieve or locate the body.

In addition to the blood money, the instructor was ordered to pay a Dh20,000 fine.
