A MAN has been jailed for three months for insulting an airline employee at an international airport.
The 27-year-old Bahraini, originally from Syria, was arrested after he was abusive to the Gulf Air employee at Kuwait International Airport’s check-in counter before boarding a flight.
He said he “lost his temper” when the employee told him that his sister-in-law could not board the flight to Bahrain.
“I admit what I did was wrong but it was only out of anger,” he said in his statement to prosecutors.
“I lost my temper when the Gulf Air employee told me that my sister-in-law was not allowed to board the flight to Bahrain.
“I heard him on the phone telling somebody that I was a Bahraini of Syrian origin.
“This enraged me and I insulted him. I also said I was going to throw my Bahraini passport at a top official in Bahrain.”
The defendant was sentenced to three months behind bars by the Lower Criminal Court.
