Manama: His Majesty King Hamad yesterday received at Safriya Palace Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs chairman Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and council members.
He commended the crucial role of the council since its inception more than 20 years ago in the era of the late Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
The King paid tribute to the late council chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa, who played a vital role in establishing the council, promoting its mission and bolstering its pioneering role in highlighting the Islamic values of tolerance and moderation.
He wished current chairman Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and council members success in assuming their duties.
He thanked scholars and religious preachers for guiding Muslims and promoting Islamic values which encourage learning, acquisition of knowledge and reasoning.
Shaikh Abdulrahman presented the King with the first edition of a book of reference written in five volumes by Imam ibn Al Jawzi, who died in the year 597 Hijri.
