Abu Dhabi –The authorities in Abu Dhabi have started razing down a high-rise building in the neighbourhood of Abu Dhabi over safety concerns.
A technical assessment study recommended the demolition of the 13-storey, citing cracks in the structure of the building.
The building was evacuated to ensure the safety of the tenants, who reported “unusual shaking” due to the cracks in the main structure.
“The building is no longer safe for tenants as it does not comply with construction requirements in Abu Dhabi”, said the report.
The Municipality of Abu Dhabi urged landlords to issue a mandatory certificate for their buildings ensuring their safety.
The municipality of Abu Dhabi cordoned off the area and built a temporary wall to ensure the safety of neighbouring buildings during the demolition of the dilapidated structure.
