Saudi cleric faces 37 counts of charges, death penalty

Riyadh – A Saudi religious cleric Salman Al-Awda has today appeared before the Criminal Court in Riyadh.
The Public Prosecution level 37 counts of charges against the defendant and referred him to stand trial, and demanded the death penalty.
Al-Awada is the assistant secretary-general of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, listed in Saudi Arabia as a terrorist organization.
The Qatar-based organization, which is chaired by Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, is also listed as a terrorist organization in Egypt, the UAE and Bahrain. 
Founded in 2004, the International Union of Muslim Scholars is thought to be the "supreme authority of the Muslim Brotherhood".
