Shopping for answers

Letters

In response to the letter by Koshy, ‘Price shock’, (GDN, August 28), I would like to propose some reasons for price variations between shops.

1) The packing date may be different. Low-priced chocolates may be packed earlier than the new pack and there may have been a price revision from the supplier’s side.

2) Wrong pricing is another reason. I have noticed some Greek yoghurt costs almost 50 per cent less in some markets.

3) Each and every hypermarket, supermarket or shop has its own sales and pricing strategy to attract more customers.

However, as per my knowledge medicines are under the control of the authorities and no pharmacy can charge differently for the same medicine.

Enjoy your shopping!
