Bahrain Olympic Academy is putting the finishing touches on a pair of sports-related conventions that the kingdom will host over two days next week.
Crowne Plaza Hotel will be the venue of a sport convention on Sunday and Monday, focusing on two subjects – anti doping and road to professionalism in sport.
Bahrain Olympic Committee’s Sports Medicine Centre will supervise the anti-doping seminar, to be presented by Dr Mohammed Al Dosari of Kuwait. It is part of the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Solidarity programmes.
The ‘road to professionalism in sport’ theme will be brought up in cooperation with Bahrain-based Winners Football Academy. It will be presented by the academy’s managing director, Fawaz Albinmohamed.
Another event – the International Physical Literacy Convention (IPLC) – which is scheduled to run simultaneously will promote the slogan ‘Active Nation, Healthy Population’.
It will be conducted by a team of international instructors – Dr Dean Dudley of Australia and Canada’s Richard Way and Tom Jones.
A preparatory committee has finalised the arrangements to bring this first-of-its-kind event in Bahrain. The panel is being headed by BOC Sports Affairs Executive Director Abduljalil Asad and comprises members Dr Khalid Al Shaikh, Mohammed Lori, Ahmed Al Omari, Mahmood Yateem, Ahmed Ali and Mahmood Bahran.
The convention is open to all. Applicants may send their registration requests to iplcbh2008@gmail.com and should be present at the venue before 8.30am on both days of the event.
