MANAMA: US Chamber of Commerce president and chief executive Tom Donohue will join Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed Alzayani and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) chairman Sameer Nass in a discussion on the US-Bahrain trade relationship on Sunday, it has emerged.
Organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain (AmCham) in partnership with the Economic Development Board and BCCI, the event will take place at the Capital Club Bahrain from 4pm.
Mr Donohue’s visit to Bahrain is a follow-up to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier’s visit to Washington in November, which saw more than $5 billion in commercial deals signed between US and Bahraini companies.
The goal of the US trade representative’s visit is to reinforce the strong US-Bahrain commercial bonds and encourage companies to explore future partnerships and opportunities in sectors such as oil and gas, ICT, financial services, logistics, tourism, manufacturing and real estate, said AmCham Bahrain president Qays Al Zubi.
Mr Donohue will share perspectives from Washington about the US Administration’s approach to international trade, and how the US Chamber and US business community are responding to encourage business and growth-friendly policies with allies, such as Bahrain.
Bahrain’s business-friendly policy environment is a key differentiator in the region, said AmCham adding that it encourages the kingdom’s continued policy innovation, especially in the digital economy.
