Riyadh: Municipal authorities in the city of Jeddah have banned the sale of parsley in the local markets over fears that it contains pesticides.
“A lab affiliated with the Jeddah municipality detected the presence of a high level of pesticides in a sample of parsley”, it said.
The municipality announced on its Twitter account that it’s conducting thorough lab tests on samples of the leafy vegetable to ensure it was safe for consumption, reported Almarsd.
Meanwhile, a branch of the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Agriculture in the province of Al-Jouf announced that it is carrying out lab tests on samples of parsley and irrigation water from all farms in the region to ensure the safety of vegetables for human consumption.
