Riyadh – Seventy-two Saudi women have been married by court order this year.
The Saudi courts ruled in favour of the women who were prevented by their families from marrying for various reasons, mainly social incompatibility.
The courts in the province of Mecca topped the list with 26 cases, followed by Riyadh (17 cases), Asir ( 6 cases), Jazan (5) and the Medina (4).
The Alqasim, Northern Borders and Al-Baha had 2 cases each, while courts in Al-Joof ruled in one case.
