Informa Exhibitions, one of the world's largest companies in organising conferences, exhibitions, is set to enter Saudi Arabia and host four major commercial exhibitions in the kingdom, said a report.
This was disclosed by Engineer Tareq bin Abdulrahman Al-Isa, executive manager for the National Program for Exhibitions and Conferences at the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (Sagia), at a press conference in Riyadh, according to a Saudi Press Agency report.
Al-Isa said Informa's entry into the kingdom comes within the framework of the kingdom's Vision 2030 to promote the Saudi exhibtions and events industry, it said.
He further noted that the move also aims at supporting the economic, touristic and social sectors, creating new jobs for citizens to join the meetings industry and enhancing foreign investments in the kingdom.
Al-Isa said that Saudi Arabia is proceeding with its policy to enhance its capabilities to become an international destination for business events and that the Supervisory Committee, chaired by Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the General Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, has accredited 90 initiatives to develop the Saudi meetings industry. Out of these 35 initiatives are to attract international business events to the kingdom.
