Riyadh: Three people accused of presenting a (valuable) gift to a female Gulf journalists have been arrested in Riyadh pending investigation.
The suspects include a Saudi national Abdullah Saleh Hammad Al-Mutairi, Lebanese Nather Nabieh Haniand and Indian Mateen Ahmed, said Riyadh police media spokesman.
They were caught following a video clip posted on the woman’s social media account, on visit to Saudi, showing her as she was receiving a gift of valuable perfumes bearing words indicating that they are from official departments.
The police searched the suspects’ location and found several boxes containing cheap perfumes similar to the ones which appeared in the video.
The accused sought to inform the journalist that the gifts were from official sources, hoping to exploit her for their personal gains.
