AN American fantasy film called Big Fish comes to the screen at Bahrain Cinema Club tonight.
Featuring an all-star cast that includes Ewan McGregor, Helena Bonham Carter and Jessica Lange, the 2003 film tells the story of a man named Edward Bloom who becomes ill, and so his son, William (Billy Crudup), travels to be with him.
William has a strained relationship with Edward because his father has always told exaggerated stories about his life, and William thinks he’s never really told the truth. Even on his deathbed, Edward recounts fantastical anecdotes.
When William, who is a journalist, starts to investigate his father’s tales, he begins to understand the man and his penchant for storytelling.
Directed by Tim Burton, the film was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA Award for Best Motion Picture.
Albert Finney who plays Senior Ed was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor.
