A MAN was left with a broken nose after he allegedly got into a fight with three other men over a woman, a court heard.
Four Bahrainis and a Thai woman are standing trial at the High Criminal Court in connection with the fight.
They were arrested following the brawl at a hotel in Juffair in December last year.
A 33-year-old Bahraini man said the Thai woman made an obscene gesture with one of her fingers and attacked him before the other co-defendants joined her, leaving him with a fractured nose.
However, the 33-year-old is also accused of poking a man in the eye.
“I know the woman from before because she has always caused me problems,” he said in his statement to prosecutors.
“She wanted me to open a massage parlour for her as she knew I was a businessman, but I ignored her.
“I saw her in a hotel in Juffair and she made an insulting gesture at me with her one of her fingers.
“I told the manager the woman was bothering me but she removed her shoes and bracelet and started attacking me.
“Three of her friends then joined in the assault.
“They kicked and punched me and I felt the bone in my nose come out.
“I was in pain and shock and I might have accidentally pocked someone in the eye.”
However, the woman denied any wrongdoing.
“He (the 33-year-old defendant) approached me and pushed me against the wall,” she told prosecutors.
“I was shocked and in pain before my friends came to protect me.
“I did not do anything wrong but I was in fact the person who was attacked.”
The trial has been adjourned until September 24 for review.
