Jonas began acting in theatre at the age of seven and released his debut single in 2002. He released his eponymous debut album in 2004 to little success, though it did catch the attention of Columbia Records.
Jonas' father is a songwriter, musician, and former ordained minister at an Assemblies of God church, while his mother is a former sign language teacher and singer.
Nick has a younger brother, Frankie, and two older brothers - Joe and Kevin.[6] Jonas was raised in Wyckoff, New Jersey and homeschooled by his mother. Jonas' career started when he was discovered at the age of six in a barber shop, while his mother was getting her hair cut and was referred to a professional show business manager.
He began performing on Broadway at the age of seven, portraying characters such as Tiny Tim, Chip Potts, Little Jake, and Gavroche among other roles.
Jonas wrote a song titled "Joy to the World (A Christmas Prayer)" with his father while performing in Beauty and the Beast (2002).
The single caught the attention of Columbia Records, leading to Jonas signing with Columbia and INO to release his debut studio effort.

Jonas opted to form a band with his older brothers, Joe and Kevin, known as the Jonas Brothers. The group released their debut studio album It's About Time through the Columbia label in 2006, which failed to achieve commercial success.
Jonas made his film debut along with his brothers in the Disney Channel film Camp Rock (2008), starring alongside Demi Lovato. The film's soundtrack was released on June 17, 2008 and sold 188,000 copies in its first week of release in the United States. The movie went on to become a major hit for the network, receiving 8.86 million viewers
With the Jonas Brothers officially broken up, Jonas began working on material for his second studio album. He worked as the musical and creative director on Demi Lovato's Neon Lights Tour (2014), overseeing video content, wardrobe, lighting and staging, and song arrangement.
He joined Lovato on stage for select shows of the concert, performing three of her songs with her. Jonas went on to appear in two more episodes of Hawaii Five-O, and was cast in a starring role as Nate Kulina in the drama series Kingdom while both of the album's singles entered the top twenty of the Billboard Hot 100. The project was re-released as Nick Jonas X2 in 2015. The release helped provide Jonas with a new public image, earning him the title of a sex symbol.
He did a Reddit AMA a couple of years ago and answered the most burning question of all times...
Q: Okay, Nick. Time for the most important question so far. Why not let your curls grow out again?
A: I like the short hair! It's easily manageable, and, I don't know...I don't even know if I grew it back out if it would be curly again. My hair went back and forth a lot as a kid, being curly and not. So, I don't know. It could just come out straight, there's no way of planning these things.
Also the fact that I think there's an association with me as a young person with that hair; it needs to be a little while before I have it again.
What's something you can't do anymore because of your fame?
Well, I've been doing this for a long time, so there's not really a whole lot of things that I was doing before that I can't do now. But it's kinda like just about thinking ahead, so I guess I can't really just go to a basketball game. And I can't just show up there, I have to have a security guy, and a car and a whole situation to make sure it's all smooth because you never know what's gonna happen.
Has anything ever happened to make you thankful your security guy was there?
Yea, there's been a few people jump on stage and get too close for comfort because you never know what people's intentions are. Also, times when you open your hotel room for the first time and there is somebody in there who's not supposed to be, so that can be scary.
And there was one other time we were in a mall in Milan doing a signing and more people showed up than they expected and we had to make a run for it and our security guy was on top of this gang and got us out of there safely.
Q: What has been the biggest difference from being in the Jonas Brothers to being on your own?
A: I think the biggest difference has been in the ability to create my own destiny and really step forth, and probably my personal music inclinations and intuitions. I think that the evolution has been fun over the course of a couple years, and I'm really excited about these next steps and continuing to grow.
Q: What's it been like doing a solo career compared to the days you were in a band with your brothers? Has it been hard to break into the main stream and being taken seriously since you were in a Disney supported boy band in the past?
A: Yea I think any time you transition from one career to another, specifically going from being a young child star to building an adult career it can be tough. There were a lot of challenges my team and I faced when we first launched my solo career. But I'm the kind of person that likes to attack things head on and just try to be as aggressive as possible with really setting up the next chapter and doing something different. I was thrilled when it actually connected with people and it made an impact.
It’s not just cinema screens and sold-out arenas for Nick, the star has often been praised for his on-point fashion choices, featuring on coveted ‘Best Dressed Male’ lists from the likes of Vogue and GQ. His favourite labels? “I find myself drawn to classic stuff like Ralph Lauren, John Varvatos, Dior and Louis Vuitton. It’s nice as a man to be able to do classic men’s tailoring but with elements of bold risk-taking.
Nick also has type 1 diabetes and has even launched a philanthropic venture to educate the general public about it.
For someone whose life began as a singer, Jonas has diversified into several areas and seems to be mature beyond his years.
A look at his dating history shows that Nick is partial to older women.
A throwback video in which Nick talks about why he is inclined towards older women is taking the internet by storm. On Andy Cohen's show, a fan called in to ask Nick "what is the oldest woman (he) would date". Nick laughed, "I wouldn't put a limit on it. The oldest person I have taken on a date was about 35."
The 25-year-old actor and musician explained that he is "clearly" drawn to older women because "they know what they want".
The pair was a tween power couple from 2006-2007. Aside from starring on the Disney Channel together, the Jonas Brothers also opened for Miley during her Best of Both Worlds Tour. The two broke up in 2007, which they later wrote about in their duet "Before the Storm."
There were rumors that the two rekindled their romance when she was filming The Last Song in 2009, but she eventually fell for her costar Liam Hemsworth. Nick later confessed his feelings about the whole ordeal in the 2012 Jonas Brother song "Wedding Bells."
After ending things with Miley, Nick caused relationship rumours with another Disney Channel starlet in 2008 when Selena played his love interest in the music video for "Burnin' Up." They even went a few double dates with Taylor Swift and Nick's brother, Joe. Selena eventually confirmed their romance later on by deeming it "puppy love" in an interview.
Despite a big age gap (Nick was 18 and Delta was 26), the former Jonas Brothers started a relationship with the Australian singer in 2011. After a year of dating, the two eventually split.
After appearing on the 2013 Miss USA competition, Nick became smitten with the former Miss Universe. However, after dating for almost two years, long distance proved to be too hard on the couple and they split in 2015.
The pair was first linked when they were spotted riding rides at Disney World in September 2015. Even though nothing was ever officially confirmed, the two caused a lot of dating rumors with their numerous outings together.
The two were rumored to be an item in February 2016, when they were spotted spending the weekend at a ski resort in California. Though Nick played coy about the state of their relationship, he later confirmed that they went out a few times. "She is amazing," he told Page Six at the time. "We have known each other for years, just running in the same circles."
Though the two never officially dated, Nick did have a pretty big crush on the singer in 2013. So big, that he actually ended up writing a song about her. The Jonas Brothers's track "What Do I Mean to You?" calls out Rita by name. Rita later clarified the whole ordeal during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live! adding that while they were close "it never went to that level." She eventually confronted Nick about the song and he confessed his true feelings. "It was one of those situations," she added. "He never really told me that I think, but regardless we're still friends and I still have a lot of respect for him."
Nick briefly dated the Victoria's Secret model in 2017. He brought her as his plus one to Joe and Sophie Turner's engagement party last November.
After attending the Met Gala together in 2017, the pair's friendship has reportedly turned into something more. The two are now engaged.
Here are some photos from the birthday celebrations.
