A number of vehicles were damaged due to the presence of deposits in M95 fuel, Oman Observer reported.
Owners of affected vehicles in North Batinah and Barimi filed complaints which prompted the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to withdraw M95 fuel from the market.
Laboratory tests which were conducted in co-ordination with the relevant companies revealed the presence of external deposits in only one shipment of M95, which was transported from the refinery in Sohar to some fuel stations in these regions.
The ministry ordered the marketing fuel companies in the two governorates to withdraw M95, remove impurities from the reservoirs and replace them with the new stock of fuel.
The ministry followed up with the three fuel marketing companies and ensured all cleaning operations at the affected stations had been completed.
The ministry has refereed the case to the prosecution in the interest of owners of these vehicles.
