Abdul Kareem Al Selwady will become the first athlete from Palestine to compete for the championship in a mixed martial arts event.
Al Selwady who is currently undergoing training at Fortis MMA in Dallas, Texas, will compete in Brave 18 on November 16 in Bahrain. Al Selwady was selected after emerging as the fighter with most number of wins in the division.
The lightweight fighter is undefeated in Brave Combat Federation winning in all of his four appearances and has a professional record of nine wins against a single loss. He will face the interim lightweight champion Lucas Mineiro from Brazil. The bout is scheduled as the main event of Brave 18.
The lightweight title was vacated after Ottman Azaitar was stripped of the championship for declining to compete against Al Selwady.
“It is an honour to compete for the championship in Bahrain. I will come up with the best fight in my career and will make those who stood with me during all these years of struggle proud,” said Al Selwady.
