Riyadh - Saudi Arabia has so far deported around half a million expatriates under a nationwide campaign which first started last November.
According to last statistics by the Ministry of Interior, a total of 483, 549 foreigners, were deported either for overstaying their residence permits, flouting labour laws or violating border security, according to Akhbar24.
The deportees were part of 1,890,647 expatriates who were arrested in a crackdown on illegal foreign workers, which started on the 15th of November 2018, under the slogan “Nation without Violators”.
The Saudi authorities have taken legal action against 309,108 illegal expatriates and referred 270,363 to their respective embassies to be supplied with passports and out-passes.
A total of 330,379 are facing deportation pending completion of their bookings and travel procedures.
