Riyadh – A group of fifty Saudi women took part in a two-day mock maritime and land search and rescue drill, which ended successfully.
According to Saudi newspaper Okaz, the women-only training operation is thought to be the first of its kind in Arab nations.
The women were exposed to harsh conditions as they were required to also overcome very daunting challenges and survive without water or food.
The women were also exposed to other challenges; building their own tents, go down steep mountains, cross trenches and water hurdles and climb mountains.
Team commander Saud Ahmed Al-Malki said that the trainees had also been asked to look for the treasures, hunt animals and eat them.
The volunteer women are affiliated with the Saudi Peace Team for Search and Rescue.
