Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa yesterday opened the third FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving at Gravity Indoor Skydiving in Zallaq.
Attending the event were Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa; His Majesty the King’s representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa; SCYS first deputy chairman, Bahrain Athletics Association president and Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation honorary president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa; and Gravity Indoor Skydiving chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, amongst other officials. Also on hand was Gravity general manager and World Cup Management Committee head Khawla Al Hammadi.
The Deputy Premier said that Bahrain’s success in hosting the world championship is another achievement of the kingdom in the field of sports. He also praised the organising committee’s effort to ensure the success of the international event.
More than 100 teams from 25 countries are taking part in the world cup, which is set to feature the most advanced indoor skydiving athletes from across the globe. The first of three days of competition is today, starting at 8am.
