Brave 18, to be hosted in the kingdom, will create record for the most number of championship titles contested in a single edition of the promotion.
Across three divisions, three world championship titles will be contested. Previously a maximum of two championship titles were contested during Brave 8 in Brazil, Brave 9 in Bahrain, Brave 11 in Brazil and Brave 16 in the UAE. Brave 18 will be the biggest edition of the promotion this year.
For the first time in the history of mixed martial arts, a professional athlete from Palestine will compete in the main event of an international MMA organisation to contest for the title. Lucas Mineiro from Brazil will defend the lightweight world championship against Abdul Kareem Al Selwady from Palestine. The bantamweight title will be defended by Stephen Loman from Philippines against Felipe Efrain from Brazil. The inaugural flyweight championship will be contested between Velimurad Alkhasov from Russia and Marcel Adur from Brazil.
The world championship titles of Brave Combat Federation is one of the most elaborately designed titles in the world of combat sports. The championship titles, each weighing over eight kilograms of gold plated plaques and gems, are among the costliest in the world of mixed martial arts.
Brave 18 will be held during the Brave International Combat Week 2018 from November 11 to 18 at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town. The largest combat sports festival till date in Asia will bring participants from over 100 nations to the kingdom.
The mega event will receive world wide broadcast coverage through multiple partners and an expected coverage by over 120 publications in over 20 languages. The growth of popularity of mixed martial arts in Bahrain under the initiative of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, Bahrain Athletics Association president and Brave Combat Federation founder Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa has propelled Bahrain to claim second place in the latest IMMAF world rankings.
