Indian multinational group A Tech Wabag (Wabag) has been awarded a QR275 million ($75 million) engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the rehabilitation of Doha South Sewage Treatment Works project.
Wabag, a pioneer in pure-play water technology sector based in India, said the Design and Build project was awarded by Qatar's public works authority Asghal for the development of the plant located south of Doha in Qatar.
The scope of work includes the rehabilitation of Doha South Sewage Treatment Works using lamella clarifier, disc filter and aerobic digester technology to treat the additional sewage generated by the football stadium, which is under construction for the FIFA World Cup 2022, said a statement from the company.
The project is scheduled to be delivered over a period of 24 months, while the existing plant is in operation.
