DISTRESSED Filipino workers will now be mandatorily referred to a government shelter rather than being housed in a temporary shelter run by the Philippines Embassy, according to a new agreement. The deal is aimed at protecting the rights of Filipinos in Bahrain who will be provided legal and psychological counselling when referred by the embassy to the Expat Protection Centre in Sehla, that is operated by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).
