Morocco: Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred has been remanded in prison pending investigation in connection with the alleged rape of a French woman.
A court in the region of Saint Tropez in Southern France issued a verdict denying the suspect bail and ordering the provisional detention of the singer.
Defence lawyer Jean Marc Fedida had submitted a demand to the Public Prosecution in Saint Tropez to release the singer, who was will willing a pay a huge amount for his bail.
The Moroccan pop star, who is already facing several accusations of sexual assault, was charged again with rape at the French Riviera, after a woman accused him of assaulting her in his hotel room.
The singer, who is popular across the Arab world, was arrested last August in Gassin, near the seaside resort of Saint-Tropez, and placed under formal investigation.
