GPIC Tennis Championship: Hanna storms into last eight

HANNA Espinosa barged into the women’s singles quarter-finals last night in the 32nd GPIC Tennis Championship 2018 at Bahrain Tennis Club beating Maya Bseius 6-0, 6-0.

She now takes on Chloe McHenry in the last eight, after Chloe advanced following a 6-3, 6-2 win against Lea Doroteo.

Others to march on were Abby Pelagio, Nazley Nader, Aleina Alex, Lana Mnakut, Safa Safar and Stanzi Stujit.

Play in the final eight resumes on Monday at BCI.

Meanwhile, in the men’s super doubles, Abdulrahman Janahi and Emir Isik defeated Yousef Abdulredha and Hamad Fardan 6-1, 6-2 to qualify for the quarter-finals.

They next take on Abdula’al pairing of Mohammed and Nader, who were 6-3, 6-3 winners over Nader Abdula’al and Jic Jic Bohol.

Also victorious were Younus Al Rawahi and Elias Abdulredha, who beat Ali Alasfoor and Philipe Sargeant 6-4, 6-4.

Al Rawahi and Abdulredha take on Ahmed Janahi and Abdullatif Mohammed in their next match. Janahi and Mohammed had a bye.

Others to win their men’s super doubles matches yesterday were Jojo F and Anton H and Hidde Sels and Avneet S.

The quarter-finals in both the men’s super doubles and men’s doubles quarter-finals will be played on Monday.
