AHMED Akbar kicked-off the new showjumping season with a dominant performance, winning the Grand Prix event at the Military Sports Village arena.
The event was held under the patronage of Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, vice-president of Supreme Council for Environment and president of Bahrain Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef), who crowned the winners.
Saber Salman on Hollywood was second in 39.04 seconds, three seconds behind the winner who was riding Apache.
Khalid Al Khateri finished third on Prince in 31.50 (4 faults).
Eiad Ahmed triumphed in the day’s second main event - the second open competition for advanced seniors.
He posted a time of 35.49 seconds and collected 44 points. Veteran competitor Sami Ghazwan was second and Eiad Ahmed third, on a different horse.
In the first open competition for advanced seniors, Ali Hani finished first while Abdulaziz Abdullah topped the podium in the last competition for advanced seniors.
In the youth competitions, Mayoof Abdulaziz outclassed his opponents in two organised contests and won both he events.
