International Day for Tolerance was commemorated in Bahrain last night at the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage.
It marks the UN’s commitment to strengthening tolerance by fostering mutual understanding among cultures and people and has been celebrated on November 16 since 1996 following the UN Year of Tolerance in 1995 proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1993 as a UNESCO initiative .
