SHAIKH Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, chairman of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and president of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), will be attending today’s General Assembly of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) at the Gulf Hotel.
Among the items on the General Assembly’s agenda is the re-appointment of current FEI president Ingmar De Vos for a new four-year-term following unanimous support to him from the member countries, thanks to the achievements made under his presidency in the past four years, notably increasing FEI’s activities and programmes.
The administrative and financial reports of the last four years will be presented during the meeting, in addition to a presentation featuring the activities of FEI.
The General Assembly is expected to approve the results of the elections of several FEI’s committees.
Meanwhile, the hottest issue to be discussed in the General Assembly is the cancellation of the World Endurance Championship in Tryon City, North Caroline, earlier this year.
Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, vice-president of Supreme Council for Environment and president of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef), welcomed FEI officials during a dinner party which was attended by De Vos and FEI vice-president Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
On the occasion, De Vos thanked Bahrain for hosting this prestigious event.
