Last week, a conference on women and the right of access to information took place at the Carter Centre in Atlanta, Georgia. Jimmy Carter, the former US president, sent a letter to His Royal Highness Prime Minster Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on the recommendations of the conference and sought support including legal measures to mitigate risks and ill treatment facing women while seeking information (GDN, November 16)
In his reply, the Premier stressed Bahrain’s support to the Atlanta declaration emphasising that the Bahrain’s Constitution guarantees gender equality and that women are more or less equally represented both in public and private sectors .
