564,800 illegal expats deported from Saudi Arabia

The Saudi authorities have so far deported a total of 564,800 expatriates for overstaying their residence permits, flouting labour laws and violating border security, according to Okaz newspaper.

The deportees were part of 2,176,517 expatriates who were arrested in a nationwide clampdown on illegal foreign workers, which started on November 15 last year. Of these 1,686,891 expatriates overstayed their residence permit,  334,373 violated labour laws while 155,253  were found in breach of the border regulations.

The Saudi authorities have taken legal action against 344,622 illegal expatriates and referred 312, 185 to their respective embassies to be supplied with passports and out-passes.
