VIDEO: Man killed in clash with police in Jeddah



Riyadh: A man wanted in security-related cases was killed in the city of Jeddah.

Police gunned down the man in the neighbourhood of Al-Marwa after he opened fire on units which cordoned off the area.

The suspect was accused of kidnapping, using firearms and using drugs, said Mecca Police media spokesman.

The man, who was armed with a machine gun, threatened passersby and used a 14-year-old boy as a human shield in an attempt to evade arrest, according to reports.

The security patrols gunned him down after he refused calls to surrender and fired shots at the police units.

Video circulating on social media

A policeman who sustained wounds in the clash was taken to a hospital for treatment.

A video showing part of the security operation and heavy police deployments was posted on social media.
