BAHRAIN is set to host the sixth edition of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Women’s Championship.

This was confirmed by the Bahrain Football Association, who have announced the tournament dates from January 7 to 15 early next year.

The draw for the tournament was held recently with all the participating teams in attendance. Five nations are taking part in the competition. They include Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, the UAE and hosts Bahrain. Bahrain and Lebanon face off on opening night on January 7. The Jordanians and Emiratis are also scheduled to play that same night.

Bahrain next take on Palestine on January 9, when the UAE face Lebanon in another fixture.

On January 11, Jordan take on Lebanon while Palestine face the UAE. On January 13, the UAE go head to head with the host Bahrainis, while Palestine and Jordan lock horns.

The final day of the tournament on January 15 will see Palestine take on Lebanon and Jordan play Bahrain.

The senior women’s national team have already begun their preparations for the tournament. They played a friendly match against the Maldives a few days back and they won 7-0. They are scheduled to play in another two friendlies, first tonight and then another on December 9.
