AL Hala knocked out defending champions Al Najma in the King’s Cup last night following a goalless draw in the second-leg to win the tie 3-2 overall while Al Hidd defeated East Riffa 1-0 to win 2-0 overall in the quarter-finals last night at the Bahrain National Stadium.
Al Hala, who gained promotion to first division this season, and Al Hidd will take on each other in the semi-finals.
Al Najma scored an early goal in the 10th minute but it was cancelled out by the referee as Al Najma’s Syrian defender Moayyed Al Kholi was ruled offside.
Al Najma continued their domination in the second-half and came across many scoring chances but Al Hala’s goalkeeper Hamad Al Dossary made some amazing saves.
In the second match, Al Hidd scored the match-winner in the 27th minute through Mohammed Abdulwahab.
Arguing
Both coaches, Salman Shireeda of Al Hidd and Pedru Gomez of East Riffa, were sent to the stands for arguing with the match referee.
Two second-leg quarter-final matches are scheduled for tonight.
Muharraq take on Manama at 5.30pm while Riffa clash with Al Shabab at 8pm. Both matches are to be played at Muharraq Club Stadium in Arad.
In the first-leg, Manama beat Muharraq 2-1 while Riffa defeated Al Shabab 1-0.
