The competition called for the submission of photographs taken in Bahrain under four categories – Architecture and Buildings, Landscapes and Seascapes, People of the Kingdom and Flora and Fauna.
Hundreds of entries were submitted over the past two months from locals and expatriates providing an incredible portfolio of images reflecting the colour and diversity of the kingdom seen through the eyes of professional and amateur photographers.
Andre Bigg, chairman of the judging committee, said: “We were amazed at the standard of photographs submitted to us in this first kingdom-wide search for images best reflecting the kingdom and its people.
“The task of choosing the best images has been extremely challenging but with the input of followers on our social media platforms, we have been able to select the winners in each category and an overall best picture from the hundreds of images submitted.”
The overall winning photo was submitted by Peter Lee who will collect a Dell laptop as the top prize.
Winners of the four categories are Usama Dhopavkar for Architecture and Buildings, Fahad Asab for Landscapes and Seascapes, Ali Kazerooni for People of the Kingdom and Rubel Sarkar for Flora and Fauna.
Each will receive a Canon EOS 4000D camera as their prize sponsored by LuLu Hypermarkets.
The winning photographs together with a number of other submissions will be published in the 2018 National Day/Bahrain Annual report.
GDN will publish photographs submitted on a regular basis over the coming weeks and months.
