A star-studded field has been lined-up for three exciting competitions taking place as part of Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) All-Star Festival tomorrow and Monday at Zain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam.
The two-day event is being held under the directives of BBA president Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and is part of BBA celebrations to mark the National Day and His Majesty’s accession to the throne.
More than 30 top players from the Zain Bahrain Basketball League will be battling it out in the Three-Point Shootout, Slam Dunk Contest and Skills Challenge.
Twenty-two of them are competing in the shootout which including Bader Abdulla Malabes and Ahmed Hassan Aldurazi from Muharraq, Ahmed Abdulaziz and Mohammed Hussain from Manama and Mohammed Kuwayed from Riffa.
The rest of the field includes Ahmed Salman, Ebrahim Albashi, Hussain Mohammed, Ali Aqeel, Ahmed Jamal, Hussain Taqi, Ahmed Jaffer, Ali Jaffer, Hassan Abbas, Mohammed Buallay, Sayed Kadhem Majed, Hussain Shaker, Sayed Jalal Akber, Hassan Qerashi, Sayed Mohammed Hameed, Fadhel Abbas and Hussain Ali.
The qualifying round of the Three-Point Shootout will be held tomorrow. The final rounds will take place the next day.
Different
In the Skills Challenge, a field of eight is set to take part, each representing a different club.
The competitors are Mohammed Ameer (Manama), Baqer Al Aradi (Muharraq), Jassim Abul (Al Ahli), Hussain Salman (Al Hala), Abdulrahman Ghali (Riffa), Hussain Taqi (Sitra), Ahmed Salman (Isa Town) and Qassim Hassan (Al Najma).
The Slam Dunk contest will be competed by American professionals Marcel Jones (Al Ahli) and Senegalese Mansour Kasse (Sitra), Ali Jassim (Riffa), Mohammed Juma’a (Muharraq) and Ameer (Manama).
The Skills Challenge and the Slam Dunk will take place on Monday.
Also as part of the festival are a pair of three-on-three competitions taking place tomorrow. .
The main event of the festival will be the All-Star Game on Monday. It will be between two teams selected by captains Mohammed Kuwayed and Hesham Sarhan.
Kuwayed’s team: Bader Abdulla Malabes, Ahmed Abdulaziz, Mohammed Buallay, Hussain Salman, Ali Abbas, Sayed Hashim Habeeb, Hussain Salman, Abdulrahman Ghali, Mohammed Ameer, Mohammed Juma’a and American import Wayne Chism. Kuwayed’s team is coached by Serbian Dejan Tomic.
Sarhan’s team: Hussain Shaker, Ahmed Hassan Aldurazi. Sayed Kadhem Majid, Sayed Mohammed Hameed, Maytham Jameel, Mohammed Hussain. Hassan Gerashi, Subah Hussain, Ali Shukrallah, Ahmed Najaf and Marcel Jones. Sarhan’s team is coached by Bahraini Ali Abdulghani.
