Samy Al Jamal, the veteran coach from Jordan who trained multiple superstars including reigning Brave Combat Federation welterweight world champion Jarrah Al Selawe, has praised the initiatives by the Kingdom of Bahrain and the global support for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.
This year marked an iconic year for Jordanian athletes as Al Selawe became the first in his country to be crowned as a world champion in a global MMA organisation.
This was followed by Abdul Kareem Al Selwady, who spent the majority of his life in Jordan, as he conquered the lightweight world championship after dominating Lucas Mineiro in their bout.
Wins
At Brave 20, Ali Qaisi and Jalal Al Daaja outclassed their respective opponents to claim two more wins for Jordan.
Al Jamal is one of the highest-ranked Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belters of an Arab origin. As a competitor, he has many accomplishments, among them being gold medallist in the 2014 World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, silver medallist in 2014 IBJJF Pan-Am Jiu-Jitsu Championship, two-gold medal winner in 2014 Munich Winter IBJJF Open International Championship, and champion in European IBJJF Open Championship in 2014 and 2013.
“After the win of Jarah Al Selawe, people want to learn more and understand more about the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. A lot of new prospects are understanding the value of professional training and are seeking good gyms and coaches and the market is starting to pick up in all levels,” said Al Jamal.
“His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa is a visionary and a pillar of strength for the sport in the region. The initiative has triggered change and we hope that this is the golden age of Mixed Martial Arts in Jordan.”
