Tunis – The first direct flight from Damascus, Syria landed at Habib Bourguiba International Airport in Monastir after 8 years of absence, reported Tunis News Agency.
About 150 Syrian tourists are on board this flight and will spend the end of year holidays in local hotels, said Haithem Zarga, travel organiser.
This flight, organised by the civil society, in coordination with the two countries’ authorities, will be followed by others in the coming months, he added.
Among Syrian tourists, representatives of civil society, human rights defenders and journalists, said Talal Hassan, president of the Syrian community association in Tunisia, adding that this initiative reflects the relations of friendship between the Syrian and Tunisian peoples.
