A social welfare programme was launched in Saudi Arabia to empower citizens and help them achieve their socio-economic goals in life, including getting married.
Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Defence Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud ordered the schemed under the slogan “SNAD Mohammed bin Salman” programme.
The multi-phased programme will focus first on encouraging and helping Saudi youth get married and ensuring them a stable family and social life.
The 'SNAD marriage' will only benefit unmarried Saudi nationals who are planning to tie the knot and build a family life for the first time.
Under the terms and conditions, the bride and groom shall be Saudi nationals to be eligible to benefit from the programme.
The bride shall be aged from 18 to 40 and the bridegroom from 21 to 40 to become eligible.
The bridegroom shall be unmarried (1st marriage) and holder of a high school certificate as a minimum.
Saudi nationals who got married one year ago at most will also benefit from the marriage welfare programme, on the condition that their monthly income does not exceed SR4000.
The SNAD marriage puts a cap of SR50,000 on dowries as a mandatory eligibility condition.
The priority will be given also to martyrs’ children and candidates with special needs and physical disabilities.
The SNAD Mohammed bin Salman program also features many other social and nonprofit initiatives, including support to charitable associations, the release of prisoners and the development of historical mosques.
