THE participating teams in the sixth West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Women’s Championship started arriving in Bahrain yesterday ahead of tomorrow’s kick-off at Muharraq Club stadium in Arad.

The tournament, organised in cooperation of Bahrain Football Association (BFA) and WAFF, will be played in league format.

The five teams in the fray are defending champions Jordan, Lebanon, the UAE, Palestine and hosts Bahrain.

On opening night tomorrow, the Bahrainis take on their counterparts from Lebanon, to be followed by a match between Jordan and the UAE.

Bahrain’s next game will be on Wednesday against Palestine and then they take on the UAE on Sunday. Their final game will be against Jordan on Tuesday next week.

Jordan were winners of the last edition of the competition in 2014.
