Yuva Kerala hold Marina in thriller

Yuva Kerala FC drew 1-1 with Marina FC in a thrilling inaugural match of the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) Mega Fair Football Champions Cup at the Etihad Football Ground in Adhari.

Later, FC Kerala outplayed Showstoppers FC 2-0, Al Kerlawi FC edged Mattool FC 1-0 and Midland FC defeated Sagar ISF FC 2-0.

In other matches, KH United FC won 3-1 against KMCC FC and Zallaq FC held off Super Heroes FC 3-2.

Twelve teams are taking part in the seven-a-side tournament, being held in connection with the Indian School Mega Fair 2018. League matches will continue on Thursday and Friday. The quarter-finals will take place on January 17 while the semi-finals and the final will be held the next day.

The tournament was officially inaugurated by ISB Mega Fair general convener S Inayadullah with patron Mohamed Hussain Malim performing the ceremonial first kick. ISB honorary secretary Saji Antony welcomed the gathering and executive committee (EC) member (sports) Rajesh MN proposed the vote of thanks.

ISB vice-chairman Jayafar Maidani, assistant secretary Premalatha NS, EC Member Saji George, Physical Education Department head Saikat Sarkar, sponsor Sisel Soman, convener Anzal Kochukudy and coordinator Sunil K Cheriyan were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
