Riyadh: More than 40,000 women have got their licences since the ban on women driving was lifted on June 24.
The Director-General of Traffic Department Major-General Muhammad Al-Bassami who provided the statistics also unveiled plans to open 14 additional driving schools for women in different regions, reported Okaz.
This is being done to ease the waiting list for women to get the license.
The traffic authorities have so far opened twenty-centres to replace valid international licenses with Saudi ones as per the new regulations.
