Abu Dhabi - An unauthorised vehicle on the runway delayed an Emirates flight from Cairo to Dubai by over eight hours on January 12.
According to a statement issued by an Emirates spokesperson, the flight had to abort take-off as unexpected braking at high speed caused damage to the tyres.
After the tyres were damaged the plane had to return to the terminal.
Passengers were disembarked and boarded on a replacement aircraft, which departed from Cairo at 9pm local time, the airline added in the statement.
"Emirates flight EK 928 from Cairo (CAI) to Dubai (DXB) had to abort take-off on January 12, due to an unauthorised vehicle on the runway," the airline said.
