Bahrain team will get back to training today after Monday’s tough 1-0 victory over India in their third Group ‘A’ match of the AFC Asian Cup, being held in the UAE.
Bahrain qualified for the round 16, but their opponents will only be known after the end of the group matches.
Meanwhile, Bahrain Football Association president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa congratulated His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, on Bahrain’s qualification. Shaikh Ali also congratulated Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa on Bahrain’s achievement.
Shaikh Ali said that Bahrain qualified after a tough game against India, where they won 1-0 through a penalty kick scored by Jamal Rashid. “I congratulate all team members for their outstanding performance. Their determination enabled them to clinch victory,” said Shaikh Ali.
“I also thank the Bahraini fans who supported the team in all the three matches,” he added.
Shaikh Ali said they must now concentrate on the next game and claim a berth in the quarter-finals. He said the technical and administrative team members are working hard to help the team focus on the next game.
