Expatriates in Oman can hold top positions in private educational institutions for three years only, which can be renewed once whenever necessary.
The Ministry of Higher Education announced the new procedure, which is part of a process to Omanise top positions in the private institutions.
The new restrictions include the posts of chairman, dean and their deputies, and assistants, which can be held by a person for three years only.
An edict issued by the ministry left the door open to extend the three-year contract only once, whenever deemed necessary.
The ministry said that the percentage of candidates in top positions in each educational institution should not exceed 25 per cent from one particular nationality. However, Omani nationals are exempted from this restrictive clause.
