New Delhi: The International Cricket Council has suspended West Indian spin bowler Sunil Narine from international cricket after his action was ruled to be illegal.
The ICC said in a statement on Sunday that its assessment revealed that all variations of his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the regulations.
Narine, the top-ranked bowler in one-day internationals and Twenty20 internationals, was reported after the third ODI against Sri Lanka in Pallekele in November.
Narine's suspension is with immediate effect but he can apply for a re-assessment after modifying his bowling action.
The 27-year-old Narine has taken 21 wickets in six test matches, 77 in 55 ODIs and 40 wickets in 34 T20s.
