MUHARRAQ crushed Al Shabab 5-1, Riffa drew with Al Hidd 1-1 and Al Hala shocked Manama 2-0 last night in the ninth week’s action of the Nasser bin Hamad Football Premier League.
In the first match at Bahrain National Stadium, Mohammed Marhoon scored an injury time goal to help Riffa draw with Al Hidd 1-1.
Riffa remain on top of the table with 20 points while Al Hidd are on 12.
Al Hidd scored first in the 61st minute through Mohammed Abdulwahhab while Riffa equalised in injury time, thanks to Mohammad Marhoon’s powerful free kick which hit the target like a guided missile.
In the second match at the same venue, Muharraq routed Al Shabab 5-1 to move to second place.
Muharraq reached 17 points to reduce the margin with the leaders Riffa to three while Al Shabab remain on six points.
Al Shabab scored first in the 26th minute through Arnest’s penalty conversion while Muharraq equalised in the 31st minute with Waleed Al Hayyam finding the target.
Ahmed Juma scored the second goal just before half-time and it became 3-1 in the 59th minute with Mohammed Solah’s penalty conversion.
Soon it increased to 4-1 in the 67th minute as Jasser Adam found the net and Solah completed the rout in the 87th minute.
At Muharraq Club Stadium, Al Hala shocked Manama 2-0.
Manama went down to third as they stay on 15 points while Al Hala moved to seven points.
Ibrahim Al Mishkhas put Al Hala ahead before half-time and Brazilian Samuel sealed victory in the 78th minute.
Two matches are scheduled for today. East Riffa take on Al Najma at 4.45pm while Malkiya clash with Budaiya at 7.15pm, both matches at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town.
