Schools were closed in parts of Saudi Arabia on Monday (January 28) due to turbulent weather conditions, Sabq reported.
The kingdom's educational authorities announced the closure of schools in the city of Ara’ar in the Northern Borders province, Tabuk, Dhiba and Al Jawf.
Meanwhile, Madinah Civil Defence issued an alert, urging precaution in light of the General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection’s forecast of inclement weather conditions in many parts of Saudi Arabia.
The bad weather, which started on Sunday, will continue for several days. Dusty winds enveloped Jeddah lowering visibility and forcing residents indoors.
Light to moderate rains lashed Tabuk and the adjoining areas.
The weather authority expected Tabuk, Al Jawf, Hail, Madinah and the northern borders to experience rain and sandstorms.
Strong winds were also expected to stir up sandstorms in Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province.
