Muscat: Minister of Manpower Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri issued an edict extending the temporary ban on recruiting expatriates in some professions by six months, according to Oman Observer.
The recruitment of expatriates will be temporarily halted in the sectors of information systems, accounting and finance, sales and marketing, administration, human resources, insurance, media, medical, airports, technical and engineering.
Article 1 states that the permit to bring expatriates temporarily in private sector establishments for the professions specified in the attached annexe shall be suspended after the decision for a period of six months.
Work permits issued before the date of implementation of this decision are exempted.
The Minister of Manpower earlier issued a decision to extend the temporary ban on hiring expatriates for 87 jobs in the private sector starting from January 28, 2018, which was extended for a further six months from July 30, 2018.
